Weekly Photo Challenge: Textured

For this week’s challenge, a photo that did not make it to the original Utrecht photo collection, but that we like to share with you now. It’s a close-up of the rune stone on the Dom square. The stone itself is a copy of the Jelling stone in Denmark. The runes tell how King Harald converted the Danes to Christianity in the 10th century. In 1936, the University of Utrecht received this gift to celebrate its 300th anniversary.

  1. Thank you! Good eye you have there, it is indeed the Academiegebouw (Academy building) of Utrecht University you see in the background. A beautiful building on the inside, too, by the way!
